Doesn't matter what type of dictatorship it is, Communist, Fascist, Totalitarian, the suppression of the the news media is the first thing to be put in place. Often, citizens are brought into the suppression conspiracy by convincing them of "fake news" using Orwellian terms (like "Alternate Facts" being used instead of "lies") and convincing these people to participate in a word of mouth smear campaign.
It does not do a free press any good to support a dictatorship of any kind, as it leads to the suppression of news, and, for the reporters out there that buck the totalitarian system, imprisonment and even death. (Read up on the Sedition Act of 1918 and our own government's means of controlling the press)
Show me a person in a leadership position that fears the press, even stifles it, and I'll show you a leader that is planning on leading the country into a totalitarian government.
I'm not suggesting silencing anyone , but these people have freely chosen to serve the public trust . Twisting everything to serve their own agendas isn't doing that . You hate Trump , we get it already !

And when Fox did nothing, but report negatives about Obama you were similarly upset with them?
I get you don't like that the leader of your political side is greatly disliked, but that comes with the job. Look in the mirror and ask yourself truthfully, Am I complaining about the same things I once championed?
Life is not black and white. It is a billion shades of gray and the truth is often hard to really see as each side sees it at a different angle and that changes their perspective. How do you combat that? Mostly learn to listen and believe me its f'ing hard, but often what is happening today that you think is clear as day was a result of things you never thought of that happened long ago. The big picture is sometimes too big and its easier to focus on the minor items.
No , it works both ways . The worst thing about all News Media is that they think we're all idiots who can't remember anything from day to day , I am insulted by that and you should be too . By the way , that meme was censored by imgflip , it remained in submitted for weeks .

Can I suggest you learn to talk to those you disagree with? I do it all the time and even those that continue to disagree with me are still friends.
