I actually had a friend who slept in an outhouse! We found him passed out with his beer clutched in his hand! Lol , youth!

I actually slept in the back of a pick up parked in a driveway when I couldn't find my house drunk. I rarely get that drunk anymore, and when I do I make sure it's in a place I can stay put.

Yeah , I had my times! Worked in clubs, did things I shouldn't have done and paid the price for them! Don't drink or drug anymore. If I were to go back in time and tell my 21 year old self That, I would have slapped my old self right in the face! Lol. I suppose that's the difference between being young Or living to tell the tale.

My old self still indulges too much. I never was a big partier while young. You were smart; have the fun then clean up. But since I didn't do a sh!t-ton of stuff like that I'm very slow on the uptake when my body tells me not to do something.

All I can say is I'm from a rural state and when I stayed rural there wasn't any problems. Then I moved to an urban setting and just like that the shit hit the fan. I suppose I was just plain wild and the rules that applied at that time I didn't agree with and things got crazy. Anyhow, I'm a boring guy now! Sleeping by 10:00pm up at 4:30am. Celebrated my 25th wedding anniversary. Married a fierce German Irish girl who never partied and is low maintenance! ( she would kill me if...) who also is rural. I owe a lot to her for putting up with me in the beginning. I was not as refined as I am now. Lol . Catch you later ken!

there's an old Eric burden and the animals tune called good times it goes "when I think of all the good times that we're wasted having good times" pretty much sums up the party scene. You think your having the time of your life but you are just wasting time. That's the illusion of drugs and alcohol It costs you financially, health, relationships, trouble with the law, absolutely nothing good comes from it! And usually you need to bottom out before you climb out of the hole you dig or bury yourself. My wife is my biggest rock she stood by me through thick and thin. I also reconnected years back with my childhood love of fishing as a substitute to getting high. I even do nerd stuff like go metal detecting with an old friend. I used to believe being straight was boring , boy, did I have it wrong!

I have cut way back compared to 20 years ago. Only have beers on the weekend and if I feel the desire, just one shot. But since I never was a partier I never hung with people who were bad influences. I don't drink at home and avoid brushes with the law at all costs. Meet a friend after work on Friday and go to 3 or 4 places then catch the bus home; almost never drunk. I want to maintain beer times as good times and not a habit I depend on to cope.

I always imagined myself as an old man with a metal detector walking the beaches. Maybe I ought to take up a new hobby. :)

See Ken , your the smart one! I can't begin to calculate how much money I've given lawyers and the state! That puts me in the minority rather than the majority of people like yourself !But like I said I personally am a better man today being sober, because I have too! Yes, metal detecting! I had a cheap beep and dig as a kid but I really liked doing it! Have been metal detecting again for around 5 years . It's really fascinating what you pull out of the ground if you do some homework. My best finds have been 3 gold rings, many silver rings, one diamond ring, old coins, buttons, some colonial, lots of clad coins after 1964, and yes junk! Its amazing how much lead and aluminum pop can tops there are in the ground! No salt beaches where I am but my friend in Florida has found Spanish coins after hurricanes on the beaches. Primarily I go ice fishing in winter! Lots of people hate cold but I love it! Drive out and everything! catch you on the upvote ken!

Whenever I've had contact with the law while intoxicated I've had the fortune to come across police officers who were pleasant and not out to make issues. Except for when my friend got busted for DUI while I was in the car. I was standing over to the side while my friend went through the motions and some d!ck cop decided he was going to lecture me about my friend, but a couple of his buddies in blue came over and pulled him away and I was thankfully close enough to home to walk. Anyways, I got hit by a car once while going home from a friend's house where we were playing poker so since then I've been careful not to be too intoxicated to walk or catch the bus.

The whole family had a ancestry.com present for Christmas! Otherwise I wouldn't know she was German as her family claims their 'Irish' ! Mine came back 51 percent Irish that was no surprise as my mothers family is super Irish! Everyone drunk and arguing politics on holiday, vacations and funerals Lol!

Sounds like fun. :) Don't know much about my father's Scots-Irish side, but my mom has done a lot of genealogy and her entire ancestry is Volga German farmers who came over here at the beginning of the 1900s. I guess I'm doomed to be drunk but to argue my politics stoically. :D

i think the whole Russian deal and how the republicans show little or no interest in pursuing questionable practices at best flabbergasted me! Could you imagine if it was obama? The entire right wing machine would declare total war! It proves all the republicans care about is passing their "agendas" and having a republican president to sign it!

To be a conservative is to be a hypocrite. Since there are no real ideas to speak of.

I can remember those days Vietnam, social change, communist drugs,hippies,Nixon, lots of hot button topics ripe for heated discussion. the closest thing equaling those days I believe is what's happening right now. I just have a hard time wrapping my head around what the hell is passing for our government right now!

I can remember Vietnam and Nixon but the details of the time are lost in the fog of youth. I think a lot of people are reconsidering the current administration. I get little of the 'let's wait and see what he does' that got passed around when W. Bush got into office after a popular vote loss/electoral college win. Trump makes it easy to despise him with his un-thought-out and inane tweeting, and his people are cutting their own throats. Read in The Economist this morning some stats which had 19% of the people fully committed to Trump and going just up to 22% of those who strongly support him. My best hope is that his unpopularity will dump on the GOP in next year's election for congress and we'll get a majority that will at least keep him from forwarding his 'ideas' for his last two years.
