Poor Aquaman

Actuall, Namor has been around a lot longer than Aquaman. Had Marvel chosen to do to DC what DC did to so many other publishers, Aquaman would be a footnote. Namor came put about 2 years before Aquaman emerged. Slightly different origin at the time, by the 60s, there wasn't a lot of difference in the two other than attitude.

I cheat: I've been a fan of comic books for half a century plus. I've literally studied them, their history, and know how to use google.I remember when Wonder Woman lost her powers, when all the Kryptonite on the planet was turned to iron, and more.

LOL. The Submariner was cool, but I only remember reading about 3 comics of his. Possibly a couple more when he was part of the Avengers. Or was that the Defenders? Grrr. Getting old suxx

After WWII, his star, like most of the super heroes of the era, faded. Namor was retroed in the 60s,with Johnny Storm finding him in a NYC flophouse. Namor always had a hatred of the surface world and was the true antihero of Marvel. You never knew where his allegence began or ended.

His disdain for humanity is kind of a Catch 22 because on the one hand you can understand it, what with the way so many of us treat the oceans and its marine life. But of course, there are millions of us who harbor contempt of our own for polluters and greedy fishermen out there!
