Ouch! I thought the character was older, and it turns out, way older. 1949. And not Marvel. Magazine Enterprises had the character name and used him in their Western horror magazine. That came to and end in 1955, with the institution of Comics Code Authority. When the trademark expired, Marvel picked up the name and made a few changes the make him a good guy in the old West in 1967. They changed his name to phantom rider so they could put the new ghost rider on a motor cycle. That one hit the streets in 72.

I grew up when the cowboy craze was strong. I intend to do a,few Western memes as well.

I was aware of the cowboy Ghost Rider/Phantom Rider, but I didnt know it was an absorbed character. Its amazing how many Marvel and DC characters came from other defunct companies. I give it about a decade until Disney owns DC too and there will be one amalgamated universe running titles like "Justice League Avengers" and "Xmen Outsiders"

Disney absorbing DC? That may be tricky as it's owned by Time/Warner. They aren't hurting for capital like Marvel was a few years back because they were already owned by a multimedia conglomerate. No, if Disney goes after anything, it will go after Viz that handles the licenses for most anime and manga properties out of Japan.

As for those titles: hold that thought. We could see more crossovers over time
