I started reading superhero comic books at age 8 ... back in 1975! They sure have changed. To me, nothing beats the way they were drawn back then.

I've got a decade on you in age and Comic Book reading. Dad didn't allow Comic books in the house because of a book called seduction of the innocent that changed the landscape of American comics for more than 1/2 a century.

For me, the comics from 1966 to 1980 were among the best. I still live them, but I do like a thinking person's comic. I don't care a lot for comics where the heroes spend as much time fighting with each other as opposed to fighting the bad guys. I guess one reason why Spider-man outsold the Fantastic Four. A loner, Spidey didn't have partners to fight like Ben and Johnny did in the Fantastic Four.

Believe it or not, the first comic book I remember reading was Superman vs. Spider-Man. I love Spidey's quick-witted retorts. LOL

One reason why he's been so popular. Sure, he had the whole teen angst going for him, but he also kept his wits. He used his own humor to distract his opponents while he focused on the job at hand.

Same here. I've been a comic book character fan since I can remember. Well over half a century. If you go back to the adventures of Superman with George Reeves, I've been a fan since before I could read.

The TV show was popular back then and Dell licensed a lot of the TV shows for their comic book line.

Just reading up on him. When I was a Tyke, he was portrayed more as a Western lawman than the outlaw he was.

I'm kind of (not not hugely) an american frontier era buff. I have noticed that many famous men of that time were outlaws & lawmen at different times of theyre lives. Billy the kid was a deputy & Pat Garrick was a marshal and both were in the top ten wanted in the country at some point. Wyatte Earp's father (a judge) had to save him from being hung as a horse thief, and the list goes on...I'll have to look up Johnny Ringo sometime soon.

Johnny Ringo was one of a multitude of westerns that played in the later half of the 50s into the early sixties. Even the more adult ones, though, were ajmed at us youngsters with cap guns. The space race was just starting up, so I went from wanting to be a cowboy to being an astronaut.
