When I worked at AT&Ts call center in Phoenix, one of the other CSRs had a call similar to this. I only updated it to be about a smart phone instead of long distance

I can only take so much negativity before it starts to affect me. That job would wear me down so fast!

Oh, it did. The customers I could handle, it was the constant rule changes from management that sent me out on rubber room leave a few times.

I didn't go ballistic or anything. My supervisor knew I was holding in a lot of anger, and thanks to the post office, they listened. I actually spent my morning bream deciding if I was at the breaking point. As frustrating of an employer as they were, though, they were the best company I'd ever worked for.

That's a rarity for sure to have an employer actually what's in your best interest!

Union contract. They wanted the best people, they had to lay for it.

When I applied, it was a term position, not permanent. Everyone that applied had to take an aptitude test. 90% of all applicants washed out at that point. When I tested for the permanent position that was a little better: washout rate was only 75%. But think about it. They had to test 200 people to fill 5 jobs. We were ramping up and ended up filling 300 positions. That doesn't even include the attrition rate. My first training class consisted of 10 people. Seven of us passed. Within a year, two had left. Not transfered, left. High stress. When I left after 6 years, only one other member remained.

I won't mention the other companies, but their hiring practices were warm body.

That alone shows you that they know just how stressful that job is!
