They're not telling you the truth because they make money and get votes by lying to you.

Nobody is arguing that a fetus isn't alive. There are a lot of things that are technically alive that we don't tend to give a second thought to. If we treated all life with the same level of value as that of a fully formed human, then we would be committing mass genocide every time we brushed our teeth.
