It was an airbase, not a 'compound'. They bombed a few buildings, hangars, storage areas, and air defense sites, but did NOT bomb the runway. The airbase was back in operation the next morning, bombing the same town where this particular gas attack is supposed to have occurred.
By bombing a sovereign nation that poses no immediate threat to our security, he has in essence made a declaration of war on Syria, in violation of the US Constitution which requires any declaration of war or decision to make war be made by CONGRESS, not the president.
By bombing a country that poses no immediate threat to our national security, and without a UN resolution calling for military action, and without a declaration of war, he has violated international law by waging aggressive war, much like Japan did when it bombed Pearl Harbor without any warning and without a declaration that a state of war exists between those two countries.. We hanged Japanese and German leaders for that very crime after the war. In essence, Trump could be tried by the international courts as a war criminal.
Now, I got no problem with him bombing sites suspected of holding WMDs such as nerve gas, or other weapons banned by international laws and treaties, but ONLY if those weapons are used against us, or are an immediate threat to our country, such as solid evidence those weapons are about to be used AGAINST the US itself. OR, if such acts of war are sanctioned under UN resolution declaring Syria an outlaw nation for using banned weapons and calling for military action. OR if CONGRESS passes a formal declaration of war against Syria. If you want to commit acts of war against another country, you MUST do it the right way, legally. For him to bomb Syria without a formal declaration of war by Congress, without even INFORMING Congress or the appropriate congressional committees, and without a UN resolution calling for military action to enforce international laws, is a violation of US and international law, and leaves Trump wide open to charges, trial, conviction, and execution as a war criminal.
Now this isn't just some idiot liberal democrat whining and moaning and spewing bullshit propaganda because I hate Trump. Nothing political about this. This is an actual, no bullshit, real deal, out-and-out plain FACT of international and US law.
