Background: while training in China, martial artists Gemna Saotome and his 16 year old son fall into different cursed pools. Now, when they get splashed with cold water, Gemna becomes a giant panda while Ranma becomes a beautiful young woman. To complicate matters, they live with Gemma's friend, Soun. Gemna had long before arranged with Soun to have Ranma marry one of Soun's daughters and take over Soun's dojo. 16 year old Akane becomes his fiancée. Nothing like starting out a relationship with the future husband commenting, truthfully, that he's better built than his intended.
