I would have to look at how much power the Republicans have gained since then.In the White House, the GOP has had 28 years in office with another 4 starting. Democrats have had 24 years.

Did you know that Democrats controlled the Congress for a 40 yr span from Eisenhower to Clinton lasting 40 years? (Save of course, for 6 years in the Senate from 81 - 86). Look at the media post November 1994. Same way they treated Goldwater.
