Cant believe I remember when they first appeared.

Useless trivia: Darryl played a minor speaking role in the Bill Murray movie, Stripes. See if you can spot him.

I can't believe how old referencing 'Newhart' makes me feel.

I remember listening to the button down mind of Bob Newhart album back when I was a kid

When I was a kid my parents had a bunch of Bill Cosby albums I came close to memorizing. Thanks, Bill, for ruining that fond recollection.

You're right there. Friend just sent me a link to a meme he submitted that will have the right go apeshit, even though he did it in a hilarious way. https://imgflip.com/i/1jursw

Mom only had one Cosby record. We mostly listened to the Smothers Brothers. Any wonder why I can't stand today's political humor.

"But they were sooooo liberal!!!"

Just ask the ghost of Lyndon Johnson how liberal they were. If you were an elected official, you were open season.

Yeah, I saw a documentary once on the Smothers Brothers about how they had to fight the network to get much of what they wanted on the air. If only the Decades channel would start showing episodes of their show.

Next year, Congress will likely do its normal flip flop. People that stayed home last year will come out in force to make sure that there will be a different make up in Congress. Traditional Democrats won't win the primaries if they go up against true progressives. Unfortunately, progress Democrats are as hard to find as hen's teeth. Voters that would support them, not so much. It's hard to say if Trump will be impeached by then, but if not then, there's no way he'll get reflected. I don't see him finishing this term.

Hopefully not too much damage to the country in two years, but at the rate this administration is piling up the scandals just a month in I doubt the effectiveness of their getting anything done.

Visiting with my mom the other night while the TV news was on. At one point she turned to me and said, "it's pretty bad when you can't be proud of your president". She's 80, and while a lifelong Democrat she was always accepting of authority. Not now.

Yeah, I saw that doc a few weeks ago. They were not partisan, that's for sure.

Notice your late night talk show comics. They try to keep an even keel on politics. Obama handled it right: he not only was the butt if jokes, he bearded the comics in their own den. I don't ever remember a sitting president appear on a talk show while in office. He could actually host a political comedy program if he chose.

Obama was smart. Probably too smart for the position. That's why the comics had a hard time with him (as opposed to the current 'occupant', who is a cavalcade of easy laughs just a month into office). And that's why the righties hate him; because they can't easily pigeonhole him. In a few decades people will remember those times as 'the best'.

Yeah. I was a life long Democrat until this year, but still, I accepted what we had. I was even accused of being a Bush supporter.

Right now, the only ones that I think are on the band wagon for Trump are the paid flunkies. I was around during Watergate.

Trump will cost the GOP dearly

I was originally registered as a Democrat from age 18, then I went about a dozen years as non-affiliated, then around the beginning of the 2000s i went back to Demo just so I could vote in the primaries. The ironic thing is that Trump makes W. Bush look good. (For all my distrust of his administration he WAS right about immigration and HIV assistance.) I think the GOP mainstream is waking up to the mess they have on their hands, and I think you'll see lots of Republican congressional candidates running against Trump. Yeah, you don't see a lot of Republican triumphalism over the last couple weeks. Just the fools on imgflip...
