In short time, they evolve into the size of field mice, an evolution of a decade. They study the tech of the time, especially the nano technology suited for their size. Along the way, they can create mind control for larger animals, using a plot device much like Heinlein's puppet masters story.

Actually, in "Warriors," before the cats, there were supposedly three clans. LeopardClan, LionClan, and TigerClan. I hope there will be no books on tigers, though. The cats of the Clans have had bad luck with a certain cat named "Tigerstar." He jeopardized the entire forest by bringing in a group of savage alley cats and tried to kill some of his own Clan just for power.

I looked for some of these at a book fair at my granddaughters' school last night. Didn't find any, but mentioned them to my daughter knew Immediately what I was talking about. Her oldest girl had started reading the series a while back. They aren't in our personal libraries, which are quite extensive, but she told me to talk to her oldest, who got her interested. We're avid readers, and even this old coot likes well written young adult books.
