Actually you could be right. Maybe if we used the Metric System and people saw bigger numbers that would be a valid point.

I've never been to A+W. The one around here closed when I was little.

Same. There aren't any AW's in San Diego, the closet one is right next to Big Bear. I'm just appalled that these people don't know their basic math.

When my wife was studying to be a pastry chef a few years ago, this was making the rounds, so I asked her. She said the quarter pounder was bigger. I had to explain it to her in ounces, 4 Oz vs 5.3 oz. I just now asked my 10 year old granddaughter that said she wasn't good with fractions. Took a second to process what I said and she replied the third pounder. There is hope for the human race.

Side note: another reason they dropped it was the word play customers use: who wants a sandwich as the centerpiece of the menu everyone calls a turd burger instead of a third Burger

My father taught me fractions when I was in 2nd Grade, but I re-learned it in 3rd Grade. This was back in 2004. Btw, one of the coolest girls I know works as a pastry chef at the Cheesecake Factory in Boulder, CO; She is also a student at the University, and her hobby is baking cakes. She says that cakes look a lot smaller than they actually are because they are dense.

Thanks for the replies. It is sad that many people have to figure out what many of us view as basic math and still get it wrong.
Here's a true story. A few years ago our neighbors daughter decided to work at Dunkin Donuts. She lasted half a day because she felt that customers were making fun of her. Well, they were. As a senior high school student, wouldn't you think that she would know how many donuts are in a dozen?

The one that got me on an IQ test when I was 12: I needed to know how many items were in a gross. I had never had that term prior to that, so I had to guess. Before the end of the day, though, I knew it was 12 dozen.

Even though she knew the right answer, I wasn't comfortable with how she arrived at it. I showed her for this, convert it to ounces.

I need to work with her on division in a while. Cookies first, though!

I should have said ex. She ended up having to drop her studies a little over a year ago because s stroke messed up her eyesight. But she's always baked. Right now, that granddaughter and I have chocolate chip cookies in the oven. She's taking the first batch out now. Look pretty good, except she bumped the too of the oven as she pulled the tray out. She loves helping Grandpa learn how to bake. She already knows I can cook.
