Thus is the way of the Democratic Party. Look at their record.
This year it took a fix from the DNC to rig the primaries in favor of a week candidate. In the past, a primary contest would bring out a half dozen+ contenders. Instead, only one established contender, a weak one at that, came from the rank and file and quickly folded. The other contender only recently joined the party but had supported a lot of their work for decades. It took intervention from the national office to beat him. So they put their candidate up against an opponent that should also have been easy to beat. She lost.
In 2008, after a few years grooming, they tried their current failed champion in the primaries against a rookie senator, a member of a minority, and she got slaughtered in the primaries. He did everything she failed to do.
Before that? John Kerry was a great choice, but had to deal with the Swift Boat Veterans that sold out to make sure an AWOL jet jockey got reelected.
Should I even mention the 2000 election?
1992 gave denecrats a charismatic candidate to a country that had a downhill economy for two decades. How charismatic? I don't even recall who he ran against in 96, but he beat out a sitting president in 92.
No, the Democrats can only win when the GOP has screwed the country up, created joblessness, and exacerbated homelessness and welfare need. The charismatic voice of Bill Clinton was heard as the economy took a downturn in 92. Obama had the presidency handed to him with the Wall Street meltdown.
No, the Democratic party has forgotten that it once stood for the common man.
It'll take a worse depression than we had in 08 to get a Democrat in the White House.
But if you expect the DNC to put up a strong candidate, forget it.
