We're on the same page, just for different reasons. Let's focus on second amendment rights. Congress will not try to violate it because their corporate sponsors want us at each other's throats. You and I support the second amendment, though you're a conservative and I'm a progressive. Maybe not 100% for the same reasons, but we're close enough. The powers that be, ie: Corporate America, want us at odds with each other enough that we don't go after them. Congress isn't going to do it.
Executive order? That would get overturned by SCOTUS so fast that the knk wouldn't have a chance to dry. Okay, exaggerating. But still same end result.
Martial law? That would call for armed insurection. The Trump protestors that actually rioted were insufficient to call for martial law. The president could not declare it outright. First step is the state's governor declared it. With the amount of gang wars and gun violence j Chicago, the Illinois governor could do so, but not Obama. Obama could attempt it, but Congress has to approve each measure, then must still get permission from the states it would send troops into. Say this occurred Thursday, there is no provision in the Constitution to extend term limits on an elected official, much less, through martial law. Friday, citizen Donald Trump would become President Trump, the leader of a nation that would be, in whole or in part, under martial law. Not a great beginning.
Gun control? The NRA forgot their support of that years ago. Even with two classes of Americans not granted 2nd amendment rights, per a conservative SCOTUS, felons and mentally challenged. I'm not saying the subject should be dropped. We forget about it, and the worst that could happen would. I may think Ted Nugent's is an asshole, but he's hot the right idea about 2nd amendment rights. He just acts like one of the two classes that aren't afforded it. ;)
I've heard for the last 8 years Obama was going to take our guns. But it's almost like he isn't even trying. Every gun confiscated during his term was due to a violation of some law.
Meanwhile, one thing Conservatives consistently point out is the number of gun deaths in Chicago, in violation of a SCOTUS decree, because Chicago has the toughest laws. That's where the treason lies. Obama can't go in there and do anything, but the Governor of Illinois could, but chooses to do nothing. Where's the. NRA on this?
