Years ago, I was visiting my friend when his mom asked me if I knew anything about jewelry and gems. She had a chance to buy a "genuine Fox diamond" for only $59.95. Shed never heard of Fox diamonds and thought it was something. She was crestfallen when I looked at the ad and said it wasn't Fox, but faux, pronounced foe, which was French for fake. No, I don't speak French, and this was decades before the internet or Google translate, but I try to l ow some foreign words and phrases.
