The bad roads here are the responsibility of the local governments, but you can trace back to when Richard Mourdock was state treasurer. He accidently "misplaced" funds that should have gone to the municipalities for roads and other government responsibilities. Local governments still haven't caught up because of the austerity programs they had to initiate.

Actually, it depends on what road your on. Some are the responsibility of the Local Government, and some INDOT. Hell, even HUD funds can be used on certain roads. We traveled all types and the all sucked :)

Not sure which part of the state you're in, but I'm in the far north central part. I can tell when I drive from county to county. The county I live in has some decent roads. SR 15 & SR 19 have been getting a overhaul. The widening project on 19 has been going on for a long time, though. It was in effect when I moved back in 02. It goes from just north of the following road to the US 20 bypass. Its 2 Lane most of the way to Wakarusa then goes 4 lane again to Nappanee.
I think it's just parts of the state that are getting the funds. We get it because of the interstate and industry here. It's local roads that the money isn't being out out.
