Hey BobParker

I wanted to ask you a favor. I've been seeing a some memes in Latest lately to the effect that "we'll never be able to get Mexico to pay for the wall" etc.

Would you be willing to make a meme explaining the ways the U.S. can get Mexico to pay for the wall (for example, I think I saw you comment a while back that there is already a lot of aid from the U.S. to Mexico, so the cost could easily come out of that)?

If you make a meme along those lines, or have made one already, then I can put links to it on the memes I see saying Mexico won't pay (if you don't mind fielding comments).

I'm not a Trump supporter, but when people say things that are so contrary to common sense I feel like they should be answered (at least so other people can see the answer), and you're better at presenting the issues than I am.

What do you think? If you don't think it's worth your time, no problem.

Hmm ... let me think about how to put that one together.

Tune into your local Spanish TV or radio network on any given day and—if you’re fluent in Spanish, you’'' see multiple ads promising to help you send money home to Mexico. Trump could have the FCC fine networks that air those commercials. Since there's about $25 billion sent from the US to Mexico every year (draining that cash out of our economy), we could set up a fee on those transactions.

We also could enforce "visa fees" on people who overstay.

Plus a new tariff on Mexican imports would pay for it rather quickly since we're their largest trading partner.

If anyone still doubts Trump’s ability to force Mexico to pay for the wall, stop focusing on the cost. The cost of building the wall (estimates range from $10 to $25 billion) is chump change (Trump change?) in comparison to the billions we routinely squander on programs that set back our national security (TSA for one example). When compared to the drain from welfare migrants, Social Security, food stamps, crime, etc, the cost of the “tall, physical, impenetrable, beautiful wall" is negligible.

Okay, thanks for thinking about it.

It's not a big deal I guess. But it could be good to get the other side out there, since a number of people seem complacent in their assumption that no-one could ever "force" Mexico to pay for the wall.
