I would hope that the mainstream gets disbanded temporarily and that the government steps in to regulate and fact check with a citizen journalist militia thing.

In theory, I agree. However that would lead to government run news (like Pravda or China's regulation of the internet), only telling us what they want us to hear. Government corruption would thrive because our jackass politicians would censor everything against them. With everybody connected to the internet, there is no good answer to this.

No it wouldn't. I said the government would step in to regulate/fact check with citizens, not the government itself.

The FCC used to censor the language and news to an extent but we still got better/more accurate news then than we do now.

I don't want any censorship of info, but I can see them removing sexual stuff like Kardashian celeb news.

And the way I'm talking about would obviously involve the internet as a way of checking the info.

It can be done. Maybe not the way I said, but there's always more than one solution to a problem. :{D
