Ouch. Enough people thought you were trolling and put the shun on you. You didn't violate the TOS, bit you made the OP and followers mad enough to hold a downvote party. It started a few months ago. I remember a little about the incident. Not exact details, but I was the one that started it. The OP had already had some banter with you, and you wrote very unpopular comments and replies. I downvoted one of them. A discussion got started on another post, and I mentioned that I downvoted you and they were surprised everyone thought the downvote button didn't do anything because it didn't take away any upvotes. In less than an hour, you had enough downvotes that your replies were hidden due to low ratings. I hadn't noticed you since. But for the six minute timeout every time you comment? It sounds like you're being shunned like the Amish do, but with a ton of downvotes you've earned enough downvotes to be put in the corner.
Blame me for your dilemma if you want. Downvote me if it helps. Don't flag MD, though because I won't break TOS: that will put the blackmark on you. Sorry if that makes me sound cocky, but that's the worst dressing down I'll do here. Now for "The Lecture" (my kids begged me to beat them instead of getting the lecture)
Imgflip tries to be a fun place. Freedom of expression is open to all. People can have differing views on things, but politeness counts. I do my share of trolling, especially when someone is trolling for trolls. I try to be polite, even if I disagree. Usually, within three or four replies, they get abusive. They may downvote me, but when they do that, I can flag for a TOS violation. Mods see I'm pklitr in my disagreement, the troller looks like a jerk. Troller gets suspended.
In a nutshell, just be careful what you say. Be polite, and be prepared to agree to disagree. I've seen times I've started a comment, but after working 10 or fifteen minutes, scrap it because it isn't worth it.
I'm not a mod, so I can't tell you how long you're going to be on time out probation, but at least you haven't been suspended or banned. It would be nice if imgflip came out and said this, but I think it has to do with legal reasons.
