I personally don't care much for open carry inside the city limits because it draws too much unwanted attention. It sends the message that you could be a psychotic killer on his way to a massacre. Or worse, become a target for the psycos. I prefer the genital method. Ya got it, but keep it concealed til you need it. ;)

I tell my daughter, keep your weapon concealed. In a shooting situation, you'll be the first target taken down before you can draw your weapon. Let the shooter go after the open carries first, so you have the same element of surprise as the shooter. She's a cracker Jack shooter.

Personally, if it came to open carry, I'd prefer everyone carry. An armed society is a polite society. Heinlein did a story on that decades before his death. Common theme, actually, in many of his stories. I surprise, and tick off, Conservatives because I'm a progressive (Conservatives haven't learned the difference between a liberal and a progressive, yet) but as a progressive, I'm pro second amendment. Gun control mostly rests between the ears of the gun owner. It's not just hitting the target you aim at, but controlling the situation so you know when to pull it. On keeping guns from people, I'll side with the late Justice Scalia in the Heller VS DC decision. Read it if you get a chance.

Oh, and how does a progressive differ from a liberal? Or conservative? Let's take the heroin epidemic, the topic here. Conservatives believe heroin addicts should be locked up for breaking the law. Liberals believe that heroin addicts need rehab. Progressives look at how other cultures handle if, and how it did, or didn't, work. Check the UK, Portugal, and, IIRC, Switzerland. Shocking? Is it 100%? No. Is our current stance? No. Funny, as Portugal has a high success rate in voluntary rehab with little recidivism.

But what do I know. I'm a progressive. ;)

Personally I wouldn't open carry and actually agree with you... I don't want the headache of open carry... I have my CWP and would be for laws that any tom dick or Harry can carry a CW... Taking a class and pulling a trigger is 2 different things.. I'm all about gun safety.. But I was born and raised around them practically

My daughter got me involved a bit more than I planned. Her mom (my ex) and sister are ticked about it, but she's had her CCW for a little over a year. Her instructor and business partner taught her well. First time at the firing range, she did two clusters, head and groin, in the targets. Some of the other shooters mentioned go her partner about not making tose shots. She overheard the comments and did another target. Heart cluster. Daddy's proud of his little girl.

It's easy to find common ground if you look for it. But both people have to look beyond the end of their nose because the real answer may be a commonality. Im happy to debate anyone that has the skills. Usually, I may not agree on the solution, but I try to find a practical one. I base it on research and thought. Believe me, I've been called a lot of names because of that. You'd be surprised how many times I've been accused of spending all my time watching mainstream media. I don't even have a working TV, much less cable. I have a cell phone.
