It never gets any easier, does it? My mom still lives relatively independently but my brother lives with her. She did fall down the stairs once :( but survived to tell the tale.

Nope you are right, it does not get easier. For me the hard part is dealing with her Alzheimer's and dementia. It's very sobering to see her go through this.
