I live in Portland, Oregon. We don't get much snow, but when we do and it's coupled with ice it's a pain. Snow itself is okay - I bus it to work as you've probably read in another of my replies - but even then I'll stand at my stop and watch four or five of the #19 bus go by before my #12 comes. :(

Stay warm and I'll be waiting with you at that bus stop at least in thought! My daughter lived in Boston and took public transportation everywhere. Lifesaver in the bad stuff

Everybody knows it's the smartest thing, which is why it's cheek to jowl. I don't drive so I use it everywhere. Usually it's a godsend. I'm just impatient with the waiting, which is odd because I'm usually a patient person.

Snow's coming down pretty hard now. People kept mocking the forecasts; I think the weather gods are angry.

Thanks for the info (and enough concern to post it to me). I got off work at 2:00 - about an hour-and-a-half early - and it only took me about 15 minutes longer to get home. This morning was still icy but I put the crampons on my boots and got to work on time. Dunno if I should be celebrating that though. About a fifth of the employees came to work yesterday and it shouldn't be that much more than that today. Ice should be melted by noon.

Well I am a weather nerd. :)

They're probably swerving to avoid the cyclists giving them the finger. :) When I went to college up in Washington I thought they were the worst but nowadays I think drivers suck everywhere.
