If you watched both shows (Steven Universe and Squid Girl), you'll notice that these 2 characters (Squid Girl and Peridot) are almost identical, personality wise:
-condescending
-a massive superiority complex
-holds a grudge against the earth and humans on a regular basis
-originally a sub-antagonist until they got reformed
-both seem fascinated by human technology and random objects
-both are somewhat short in stature
-both fear a particularly strong character in their respective serieses (Chizuru in Squid Girl's case, and Garnet in Peridot's case)
...and so on and so forth

oh, neat, now i have two narcisistic alien idiotic midgets to hate

she's from the ocean and I feel she is much more likable than Peridot, despite their many similarities. (also, she is constantly arguing with another character in her show who claims she is an alien, even though she has given tons of proof of her origins)
