One of the best training programs that prepared our young men for war was shut down by the opposition and ruled as being unconstitutional by SCOTUS.
The WPA was set up to help provide work during the depression. It was overseen by the Army Corps of Engineers and run like a military unit from revelle to taps. Besides providing work and building and enhancing our country's infrastructure, it prepared youngvmen for military service, regardless if they enlisted after they left the project or after the war. In fact, it helped them emensly through basic, often helping them rise in rank among new recruits and draftees.
Pray we don't go to war in the next four to eight years. Our trained soldiers are already spread too thin.
