I appreciate your comment. There are many ways to take that Salinger short story. I take it as: we never know what another is going through unless we walk a mile in their shoes. Yes, it is a sad story, but it is, to me, also an enticing study of Seymore Glass's psyche, prior to removing himself from the story.
