All 3 are original iPad cables. The first one (Vayne) is brand new. The one in the middle (Jinx) has been my personal cable for a year. I have always treated it with care. I never let it touch anything dirty. I always rolled it over/under. I always unplugged without stressing the cable. I reserved a bag pocket especially for it. The last one was from a random kid who always dragged it around, twisted and treated it badly in general. As you may see, my cable is yellow, just like the mistreated one. It also stopped working for no reason a few days ago. It charges, but it keeps throwing error 9 whenever I try to use it for anything else. This is not only about the cables; all Apple products have an expiry date. The few products they need to change are covered by the thousands which stop working out of warranty and you need to buy again. I would never have an Apple product if I didn't work with Apple. Don't buy Apple products. Reasons not to buy Apple: triple the price for half the technology; deliberately lacks functionality; requires you to buy extras to retain the functionality; very limited software; is made to break. Sorry and potato.
