First World Problems Meme | IF YOU UNDERSTOOD THE ELECTORAL SYSTEM THEN YOU WOULD NOT HAVE MADE THIS MEME | image tagged in memes, first world problems | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
I'm not trying to be mean, but without the EC, only a few votes in select areas would decide the outcome of the election. It's really a brilliant concept.

Black Girl Wat Meme | BUT WHY IS THE POPULAR VOTE NOT A FACTOR IF ELECTIONS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE "BY THE PEOPLE", WHEN IT'S ACTUALLY AN INDIRECT VOTE SYSTEM. | image tagged in memes, black girl wat | made w/ Imgflip meme maker

If it went strictly by popular vote, then every single election would be decided by NYC, Chicago, LA, etc. So people like myself who live in a rural area or even the suburbs wouldn't have a snowballs chance of getting their voice heard. States like MT, MS, OK, etc wouldn't even see a politician come to their state and ask for their vote bc it just wouldn't matter.

But that's what happens now. Why do candidates work hard to campaign in "key" states, because those are states with more electoral votes than other states, therefore they're more important and can give a candidate the victory even though he loses in most states as long as they are states with few electoral votes.

Response to you and CherryPepper as I do all this on my iPhone and the above are probably the longest comments written: without the EC and the 3 branches of our government, our country would have become either all liberal run or conservative decades ago. In January everything will be represented by the republicans but, as we've seen before, people will grow tired of them and we'll have the democrats serving the next time. That's just the way it works and I'm grateful for this or else we would surely be under some type of dictatorship. It's not perfect--nothing is, but it's the best system in the world. I could write so much more and explain my position better but it frustrating doing it all on my phone and this is a meme site--lol

Thanks Adjusted, I do understand the system. If 47% of my state votes for Trump and my state goes to the electoral college and casts all votes for Clinton, it is not a representational democracy. It is not "brilliant".
