Sorry forceful ... I had to say this ^^
Last summer I visited my parents in Germany and I chose to take the train. Therefore I had to cross one of those inner cities (high unemployment, high crime rate, mainly all lowerclass people, etc.).
So I ran with my luggage (I was late) through the crowd on the sidewalk and I bumped into many people. Even it was my fault THEY offered an excuse to ME ("Bonjour Monsieur. Pardon Monsieur", "Bonjour. Excusez-moi, Monsieur!", etc.) when I ran into them. Those guys (almost all French people, no matter what background they had or which color their skin had) are so gentle and also neat, I really was astonished.
In the evening I reached Cologne, went to another track and one of my fellow countrymen came towards me and without saying "Good afternoon"/"Hello" or "Excuse me, please" he said to me: "Yo man, spare Change? I'll give it back to you tomorrow, man!"
I felt so horrible!
We Germans are very often SO arrogant ... and unable to show a certain degree of politeness
