Someone was bitching about marmite and I was like "I thought you guys ate vegemite". The implication being brits and aussies are the same to me (that's not the truth). Didn't realize marmite and vegemite were actually interchangeable though. I've never had either.

Vegemite is one in a long list of previously Australian owned products that is now owned by a US company (in this case it's the US confectionery company Mondel?z International). Still made in Melbourne Australia but the profits go overseas. It's a staple over hear but most Americans (assume that you are?) really struggle with the taste. You'll have to give it a go :)

If I ever see it in the store I'll pick it up. I like food. As long as it doesn't have some weird texture there's a good chance I'll like it.

It's got a thick sticky texture. You only spread it sparingly, not as much as you would butter. Enjoy :)

It could be an interesting little experience to order some. I made all my friends try preserved duck eggs I bought in Chinatown. I was going to order some surstromming one day for fun but after watching videos of people just opening the can I'm afraid of it. Vegemite would be a safe taste test we can do inside lol. I'll let you know how it goes.
