Considering that Franklin was a liberal (as were all the Founding Fathers), it's not likely that he'd say this today.

What about this is likely? Political stances aside he is famous for saying "Only 2 things are certain, death and taxes" and its playing off of that. Also liberals then were much different than liberals now. So it's hard to say what he would think if he saw the world today

True. Liberals then then were more concerned with personal liberty than social equality. It was a way of trying not to piss off the conservatives about the whole slavery thing.
