That's what they said when Mr. Lincoln ran as a third party.

I had never heard that, but I googled it and that rather misstates the situation. And I'm afraid our "Mr. Lincoln" chose to run for the Democratic nomination, lost, and is now out campaigning for Andrew Johnson.

The Republican Party, although stei g at the time, was still considered a third party, as were the Southern Democrats and the American parties. Only the Democratic Party was the established party at the time. When the Whigs disbanded in 1854, many joined the Democratic Party, while the remainder split into the Republican Party and the American (No nothing) party. The Southern Democrats had not only solution from the Democratic party, but easily won the Southern States.

So why should Lincoln be considered a third party? Because, like today's third party candidate. He was far from being in the ballot in every state. Lincoln was only on the ballot in the northern states.

And what do you mean by Lincoln is out campaigning for Andrew Johnson? Last I heard, both men were still dead.

I'm not enough of a Lincoln historian to argue with what you said, I just think its a matter of perspective as to whether Lincoln was a third party candidate, and the political landscape was much different back then. As to my Andrew Johnson comment, I was being metaphorical. Bernie Sanders was our Lincoln, Hillary is our Andrew Johnson. I don't expect her to be impeached as Johnson was, but she can't hold a candle to Bernie, and given how she is doing in the polls, I'm afraid the DNC is going to find they bet on the wrong horse.

I think the only votes that wont be tamperex with this election are those cast for a third party. Hillary's paid shills are out in number trying to discourage those people from voting third party. One reason why Assange's is holding off until just before the election to release the rest of the Clinton e-mails. Right now it appears, based on an interview he did with Democracy Now, the next batch will implicate her in a Reaganesque plot to supply arms to ISIS. As they haven't been released, I'm just waiting.

As for Bernie campaigning for Hillary? Pay attention. He's just pointing out how the system was rigged against him. In an interview last spring, he set the stage with one of the media shills that asked him if he would support Clinton. He replied that it wouldn't matter: his supporters will not jump at his command. Hillary will have to earn their votes. She's gone out of her way to turn away progressives. Some have fallen for the, "If you don't vote for Hillary, Trump will become president!" BS. If the number of Bernie supporters vote third party, Hillary's campaign will justifiably be Nadered, even if it means we have to say President Trump at this time next year.

After all, cheaters should never prosper.
