Ancient Aliens Meme | THEY FORGET ABOUT THE CONSTITUTION | image tagged in memes,ancient aliens | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
Exactly. It's not Constitutional. They tried the same thing with alcohol in the 1920's but you know how well that worked out. Not to mention the myriad of things just regular hemp can be used for...

Lookin' good so far. And 15 bucks for a large fig like that is really good.

Are you going to make the walkway look like grating? Cause you can get some of those pencil holding trays form a dollar store and cut off its sides and repaint to make some fast and cheap floor grating.

And old computer stacks sometimes have metal pieces inside that once painted would look like industrial catwalks and grating.

The clear plastic off of packaging could make the curved glass overhead. And with your lighting you'll have the water effect.

You could take 2 liter clear coke bottles and cut out the straightest parts for the curve, but I don't think it will be wide enough for what you showed in the pic. (I saw some neat podracers made form 2 liter coke bottles)

Something else that might work is some of those covers for roof gutters. There not going to look like the pic, but would give the impression that they're metal and holding up the glass.

And there are cheap bird feeders that are cylindrical that have panel lines that might work better and be more accurate to the pic.

Just thought I'd give some ideas for parts to help you along. :{

Good ideas. Plastic for the glass will def look good with the lighting like my GoT throne room. Here's another vid from that Awe channel making a Bioshock themed fish tank, I know you haven't played it but it's still interesting for the art of it. I might try to copy a couple of their techniques too:

And that clear plastic can be painted with a clear blue color to help out if the lighting is insufficient.

Fish tanks are fairly cheap. And those coffee table fish tanks would actually make the coolest display for those figures. Right there in the living room.

Bioshock does look like a great game. I need to pick up that bundle.

And that show is pretty cool. Their builds would be costly though. It'd be cheaper to DIY.

That one chick is totally the concept for Sabine. Lucasfilm saw her and were like 'That's Sabine." Either that or the chick is a Sabine fan...

It made me think that Hasbro, any toy company that is, could make a tank with built in gloves that kids could use to play underwater with there figures in a contained playset.

That would be pretty sweet. It could double as a display. And you could repose underwater figures without getting your hands wet. The part with the glove could have a spring loaded cupped door that shuts when you pull your hands out. It could work. And Hasbro needs someone like me working there. :{

Ikr?? She's hella hot.

An actual tank like the one they made would be sweet. Or even just a thinner display of water with bubbles in the background.

I was imagining her in Mando armor the whole time.

Here, I thought I'd show you how I'm doing my dioramas.

It's a shithole bar on Nar Shardaa(I might make it Corellia) ran by a Givin bartender named Alarin with a Cathar(like Jihani) bouncer named Dal'Ton(see what I did there?).

They're all SW figures except the Sabertooth figures I use for the Cathar.

The guy in dark green is my player character(pen and paper RPG), a Corellian Human fringer/smuggler and the Trandoshan(Bossk figure) is his pilot/technician.

The two aliens are a Rodian(Greedo figure) and a Sinteen(Pons Limbic figure) that are criminals for hire.

I also have pics of the Ramen shop ran by a quarren named Tsillin who the player's boss and also gives the two "missions".

I'll show the ramen shop next comment. :{

That's cool man, I like how the lighting comes in through the roof, makes it look like a real sketchy place lol. Reminds me of playing Galaxies hanging out in a cantina. What's that paint? Just matte black?
3 ups, 8y
Thanks. I hope I get it finished and lit before too long.

Cheap flat black spray paint. Like a $2 can.

I'm going to dry brush it to try and get a Rebels(Ralph's concept art) look to it and the Ramen shop(I also have sort of a "projects" apartment building going for the player character.)

I'm trying to do something similar to what Empire Toy Works did with a mix of Al figures' styles. I'm making a city essentially, for my RPG characters that will be modular and double as a display.

I want to make a droid shop next, followed by either a speeder garage or a spaceport that would fit the larger space ships like the Falcon.(and a custom Wookiee ship from Rebels I'm making from a GI JOE helicopter that HAS to be the concept origin for the ship. ) :{

Haha farmer droid! A garage and spaceport for your city is awesome. A droid shop would be a ton of fun to do, customizing the color of each droid and having junky looking ones laying around.

Here's a little more work on my walkway. I'll probably make the first couple arch brackets real and then just paint the rest. I can't wait to get some EL wire.
3 ups, 8y,

That's what I was thinking too. He's a farmer's protocol droid on some planet.

I've also thought of giving him a new head to make M-3PO from the Rouge Squadron novels. But opted to make a different 3po figure I had gloss black and still need to make the head for it.

You should find a flat 1/4-1/2 inch thick piece of that pink insulation foam, carve it, paint it black, yeah, then dry brush it to look like the floors in Bioshock. You could even carve spots into it for the Pop figures to stand. BAM! You got yourself a Bioshock Diorama. The BioDio. :{
2 ups, 8y
Yeah that'd be cool, I might use foam for the arches too. The brackets will end up being thinner when I use that tint in between each one. Those two won't be in that one, but I can't say much more without spoilers. I still need to get a little sister and it'll be her and the Big daddy coming down the tunnel!
3 ups, 8y
And the Ramen shop. The ewok(a Jedi Ewok) walking by is my Simon the Killer Ewok custom and also apart of the "team" the player character has going. :{

I looked up that EL wire on amazon and it's really cheap too. I plan on lining my shelves with it using blue wire for my Bioshock underwater background diorama.

A friend of mine used some similar wire to light up his motorcycle in green. The stuff is pretty nifty.

Dude an underwater dio would be neat.

You might find this tutorial and his channel helpful: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfvzPkBRiQc

This dude is a former graffiti artist turned diorama maker. His dioramas are seriously good. :{

That's pretty legit. What does that piece go to?
3 ups, 8y,

That was him showing his dry brushing techniques on a wall section for a dio.

He's got other tutorials that show how he puts magnets into the foam board to make it all connect but still be disassembled and stored.

he does a lot of abandoned buildings and city alleyways. Mainly stuff from Marvel comics in 1/12th scale(6" figures).

His Figures in Action series is definitely worth the watch. He gives a shit ton of tips and a little of his background.

I'm supposed to mail him an old Fox Mulder figure I have but haven't gotten around to it yet. I hope he forgot about it and is just surprised when I finally do get it to him.

I "figured" you'd like his videos for ideas for your displays. I got a lot of inspiration from him and that guy I showed you who does the wooden Star Wars dios(Empire Toy Works).

And it's why I suggested the black wash first. You saw how his came out after the dry brushing. It really helps make the depth and textures pop once youg et your colors on there.

And I'm sure he probably mentions that you would use a different color underneath if you were doing something lighter. Like a Tatooine structure would probably be white washed first with a sand color dry brushed over it. But I haven't seen him do another wash color first.

Dude's around our age too, a few years older, and lives in Boston. So, he's kind of like the Boondock Saints of dioramas. :{

I'll check out some more of his vids for sure.

Check out my concept for the Bioshock diorama. It's an underwater walkway. I'd like to use some of that blue tint for the water that that dude used for his helmet visor. I'll make the archways goldish so that they pop out and line the border with EL wire. I just picked up these pop figures. The 6" Big Daddy is pretty legit for 15 bucks.

You know not to spray paint the foam though right? You have to coat it in something else first like painted on black acrylic. :{
2 ups, 8y
I cut out some strips from pepsi bottles for now lol.

It depends on the type of foam though right or no? I know that about styrofoam but what about the harder stuff used for customizing weapons?

I'm gonna finish this up tomorrow but here's where I'm at. I got some clear tubing from Home Depot and some gold spray paint for the arches. I'll add a couple smaller arches to scale it back. If I can't find any blue tint then I've already got plastic in place to paint blue. I'm going to reduce the side beams to probably 2 on each side. Still got look around for the floor panel.

They make those colored gels for lighting, but I'm not sure if HD or Lowes would have them. A craft store probably does.

It looks very cool so far dude. :{D
2 ups, 8y
Okay, pretty close to finished. I'm going to make the arches and beams darker and weathered and add a second layer of plastic over the windows. And I still need a foam piece for the flooring. Also I'm going to run EL wire through the tubing for some badass lighting!
2 ups, 8y,

I don't know if you can see it in this pic but I left the bottom part of the tubing unpainted for the EL wiring to shine through.
3 ups, 8y,

Yeah I can see the bit of clear along the bottom to let the light come through.

Great job dude! It's coming together "swimmingly". :{D

Haha, thanks man. I can't wait to see it with the lighting.

Yeah, the lit product is going to be neat.

It makes me really want to focus more on my projects and then lighting them. :{
