Here's what you do...First, go to the memes on the front page and make as funny meme comments as you can...both to the memes and to any memes in the comment stream that you want to reply to...the funnier you are the more people will upvote your comments and begin to notice you for the right reasons...EVERYONE looks at the front page memes so you want to make your presence known in those memes for sure...also go the the "latest" pages and do the same, if noone goes to the latest pages and looks at those memes then most newer user memes don't get seen

That's the first step for new users...I don't recommend spamming links to your memes on front page memes because it is generally frowned upon but if you ask people nicely first, most will let you do it with no problem...but it IS against Imgflip's "terms and conditions" as well as making memes attacking other users...which might be why your other two memes got "unfeatured"...trust me when I tell you that we ALL have memes that got knocked back to submission...

Not necessarily - it's simply that a bigger image is easier to see. A bigger image also has more room for text. The only reason to use a small or very small image is if it's significant to the meme you are making. In other words, you need to have a good reason to use a small image. Otherwise, it's just hard to make everything out.
