One Does Not Simply

Actually it's very easy. You make a period. Find a black/white (or other color in your picture) spot in your picture, shrink the text box to the smallest possible size, and move the "." into the same spot. Can you find the black "." in my Picard picture?

Another way to do it is to click More Options and change the font size to 0, so you don't have to find a dark spot. But that's none of my business. :)

I should really check more options more often. It's not just for more text boxes and lower case letters.

It's fun exploring the different stuff you can do.

Thanks for the hint. But the developers could easily skip the check.

Sometimes I just want to post a meme from the templates without some text, but the generator keeps complaining that the meme is empty. Inserting an uploaded image into an existing meme seems to be a very strange workaround. But that's none of my business.
