For those that don't get it, there are rumors that Discovery will be intentionally "diverse", which usually means that people who have no reason to be jerks, are jerks because they are "different" and "diverse". Mentally diverse, as in, not right in the head. In the original series, the people are physically diverse but you don't have cliches like Chekov being a vodka binger or Uhuru worried about her black roots or Karate Grip Sulu. Maybe Scottie enjoyed a bit of the whiskey a little much but whatever. It wasn't ridiculous and stupid, like today.
