That was interesting, but I hated when they basically said they didn't want to do any previous storylines. That sucks.
After the Matrix sequels, they did Path of Neo. A rpg where you play as Neo and develop his skills and fight agents. You go through the films but also new stuff.
That's what they need for Star wars. The Path of Luke. You start off as Luke on Tatooine, go through some stuff there in a GTA 5 type environment.
Then, the movie stuff happens. In between each film you do EU stuff and the player can always just wander the environments and do side quests.
That's a shit ton of new stuff for them to come up with.
After the films(up to ROTJ at least) you'd be Luke forming the new Jedi Order(better than a New world order I guess?). The Praxeum like in the novels. You'd train students and take them on missions as companions. They level up and upgrade and customize, but some are fixed in appearance like Kyp Durron or Tenel Ka for example.
They'd need the planets in the films(Tatooine, Naboo, Coruscant, Kamino, Geonosis, Utapau, Kashyyyk, Mustafar, Alderaan, Yavin, Dagobah, Hoth, Bespin, and Endor. After that, they'd need Corellia, Bakura, Kessel, some asteroid belts, Byss, etc. leading up to the end of Legacy of the Force series. And if they want, TFA and Disney's fan fictions.
And that really only has to have a large map(usually a portion of a continent), not necessarily a whole planet. But I've seen a lot of promise in games like Spore and No man's Sky, where procedural generation of a planet makes it possible. The major cities could be mapped out, but then genned cities would make up the rest.
Then all they need is space flight. And those two games, Spore and No Man's Sky, are great examples. You can fly from lower atmosphere into orbit and then to other planets in system or to other stars.
They'd need starfighters, transports/freighters, and small capital ships as Pilotables, but I'm sure they could expand to later include commanding a starship.
That's what we need. And if not with Luke as the main character, a customizable one.
And Bethesda or Rock Star should make it. :{
