How to be a principled conservative in modern America

Don't you love it when people make fun of conservative views and then you provide a good argument why we support that view, then you get cussed at? It's the best feeling in the world, sadly I like to be conservative in the way to respect people too, which is why I just walk away :)

So true. I feel that there is hardly any sanity anymore. Too many people call themselves "conservatives" but are rooted in nothing. So what are they conserving?

Lately I've heard many young liberals on television, and read of many on other media, calling older conservatives a dieing breed. Sad to think that one day the two classes in America will be working class or entitlements.

More like a principled anything. I don't care if you're a liberal, conservative, libertarian, or anything else, as long as you can be reasonable, cooperative, and respectful.

"Principled Conservatism" is a dying concept. There is no room for progress only stagnation however, unchecked Liberalism leads to chaos. Much like we see today and it's getting worse.

Not much dies easily when it still has support from the people but as the older generations die off so will that way of life. I hate to call it "evolution" because what we have now is a disaster.

I agree unless the people living it are happy with the way things are. "Progress" is only for those that are unhappy with their current situation. I live a very simple life and nothing needs to change, ever.

I live by the Southside of Chicago, a place with many, many problems, yet I don't see what most liberals call "progress" to be the answer. Also think feminism and black lives matter movement are dumb and hypocritical, I just live in the perfect place to be a conservative :D

My son-in-law is from there and the rest of his family still lives there. I've heard a couple horror stories. No thanks.

Every problem is solved with solution, and every solution is progress. If the progress you see liberals pushing isn't the right solution, then maybe progress of different kind is needed.

And what kind of progress that is to be is up to you.

That only goes so far. People in high places have to listen what citizens want.

Exept citizens want people like Bernie and a cradle to grave welfare state (bad), you should listen, but only implement what they want if it's viable before the laws of reason

Solution: more police for law and order
Why it wouldn't work: thanks to media and Black Lives Matter movement black people and most of my people hate cops and it would only cause trouble if the solution were experimented with

Problem: Copism (Bias against the state of being a cop or not)
Solution: Limit the media
Why it could potentially not work: People will claim free speech.

Yep. I mean, I think the government was able to partially deny it in some other special cases, so why not now?

Because as much as I hate it it's constitutional right that cannot be denied to anyone, even though many liberal colleges deny it to conservative students, we cannot lower ourselves to their standards

I suppose you're right. We don't need the self-destructive concept of core warfare (Basically 2 computer programs fighting to crash the other, requires special runtime environments of course) applied to real life

That's why both liberalism and conservatism need to be checked by each other.

Liberal, conservative, or somewhere in between, I don't care as long as you're a reasonable and good person.
