If you are using a phone it works best to save an image and then "upload your own image" on the meme generator after you hit reply. If there is an image you want to use over and over, you can save it as a template by checking the box that prompts you for this. Then you can click on the my templates tab beside the popular tab whenever you want to use it. Adding an image inside of popular image (like one does not simply) works really well if you are on a laptop, but I find it difficult on a phone.

I always click 'add image', 'inside current image', check 'include user templates' and choose what you want.
Then you stretch the newly chosen image to the very edge of the current image and you basically have a new one. Mind that some templates may look stretched, so choose a fitting size from the popular templates.
