Seriously, I'm not a person who believes in "fat shaming" but you don't say "I'm gonna go lose weight" and then just cut out your McDonald's intake and sit on your ass. All you're doing is decreasing the weight you're adding on, not losing it. Sure you might lose a tiny bit of weight from wiggling around looking for the remote, but that probably won't even bring you down 1kg.
I suggest this plan to go with a diet:
Get off of your fat ass, put on some sweats and go jog until you think you're gonna puke. That's a bit "extreme" for someone just starting to exercise, but when you won't make a conscious effort to help yourself that's when you become hopeless.
