Professors are actually in the business of self promotion. A professor does not get paid to teach well. They get paid to do research and get published. That is why the TA is ALWAYS far superior to the professor teaching. That is also why your best professors are probably not tenured.

How about them office hours? Teach 3 classes/week, 2 days with varying office hours. No wonder college professors work until they die.
