Yeah, I don't know idiomatic phrases. I was experimenting with Google translate and trying to find something that sounded approximately right.



So it sounds like your teacher did manage to teach you some German, after all. :)

A book can be a teacher. Once upon a time, I had memorised half of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's Faust.

Several pieces of German Lit were part of the curriculum, including "Momo" and "Unendliche Geschichte (Neverending Story)" by Ende. I particularly enjoyed those sections, because I read them growing up.
