What if I told you Christians hated America since the 80s when they started trying to take over the government.

Actually it seems like that athiests, the LGBT community, and Muslims are the ones trying to take over the government. Honestly answer this, who has had the most influence in changes within the government? I will give you a hint, it isn't Christians.

If I am the one that is wrong, how about state and site sources for what Christians have forced the government to make legal in the last 30 years.

If you want to try to claim that I am wrong about Christians helping setup the government when this country was first formed, http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/2546951/posts has a list of all the signers of the Declaration of Independence and their religious affiliation.

I've had this conversation countless times. It's exhausting. Regardless of their religious affiliation (which may not be what you have been taught) it was important enough to them that religion be kept our of legislation. It's it the FIRST amendment. Not exactly an afterthought. Keep religion out if politics. The right to practice freely. When religion started seeping into politics in the Reagan administration, the republucan focus shifted from economics to "morality" (on the visible surface anyway) because that's how they win elections, not because they are actually moral or religious. Christianity is just a demographic to the Republican party. The "base". The votes they can count on. Even when the jobs are sent to China.

Prior to that religion entered into play during the cold war, somehow"godless communism" got "in good we trust" printed on our money, and "under God" inserted into our pledge of allegiance

Although this was resisted, it was war time and unity won the day. After the fact, attempts to remove those relics have been called"religious persecution" and people use these things as that this is a Christian nation. It isn't. Luckily, there is no "prehistoric united states of America"and these are really fact checked. However, if one uses right wing religious websites as a source for facts, one is bound to be misled.

Your history is misguided. Nearly all of the founding fathers who signed the Declaration of Independence were religious. The laws and foundation of this country was built on religious principles. The first amendment was made to keep the government for a manditory religion for everyone to follow, which is one of the reason why people were leaving England to come to here. There was never an intent to keep religion out of the government, but they did want to keep the government out of religion, to not tell people what they are allowed to believe and practice.

Both. Not one or the other.

The first amendment states "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances." The basis of the separation of church and state, that Thomas Jefferson wrote to Danbury Baptists, are in line with "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof". If you was to read the letter, which is really the only backing to separation of church and state, you would see that it says nothing about keeping religion outside of the government.

I don't see how it can be interpreted the way you are saying. No laws respecting a religion or restricting a religion. How are interpreting that to say you can make religious laws?

"No laws respecting religion" meant that there was to be no law mandating any one religion as what everone should follow.

"No law restricting a religion" means that the government is not allowed to tell each religion what they are allowed to believe and practice.

It is not making religious laws but laws based off of religious beliefs. There is a difference. Making religious laws would be mandating what religion people are allowed to practice. Making laws based off of religious beliefs is making them based off a single set of morals, as each individuals personal morals would differ.

What a compelling argument, how can anyone deny that you must be telling the truth. With such reasoning skills, how are you not running for president?
