The last good one was George Washington.

Abraham Lincoln wasn't bad.

Okay, true. And I suppose James Madison was ok and FDR was an ok president, although some moral issues. But they still were worse than George Washington.

If you want to get technical about it, Washington owned slaves and waited until he was dead before he allowed them to be free. Some could argue that there would be some moral issues there, such as if he was really against slavery, why wait to free them until he died?

Okay, that came up and I was unawares. He owned slaves? When did that happen? Well, ok. Then we have had no good presidents. :( Wait, how did he treat said slaves? Not saying slavery is good, but in some cases, if the slaves are provided for and well taken care of, it can be preferable to settle a debt (basically, physical labor for your crime). But, yeah. Most people treat slaves HORRIBLY so it is bad. (also bad in general, but exceptions)

He inherited some of the slaves. Others Martha inherited. He purchased other slaves where there was a total of 135 slaves not including the dower slaves he had and probably not even the white indentured servitudes he owned. There were only a few that were slaves because of someone's debt. Not sure of the actual treatment of the slaves, but to me if he privately disapproved of slavery and only didn't say anything for fear of breaking up the newly formed Republic, he should have still freed them the moment they got into his possession.

I only say this because of the fact that everyone does have their flaws and imperfections, and some morals are also based off of the time period they lived in. For instance slavery was part of the culture, although the method in which they obtained slaves was not. But as time has gone on, the basis of what is moral seems to constantly get skewed and people are becoming more complacent eith allowing the people we have as leadership for this country to have less morals than what we would want of our neighbors and family.

Right, that makes sense. I do agree with you on that he should have freed them.

And yes, every body has their flaws (even me! :O). Yeah, moral is no not so moral. Tolerance? More like you gotta love 'em or your a bigoted racist. Now, tolerance is not a bad thing. Murder is bad, we don't want murder. Acceptance is different. Anyway, before I start a political tirade, thanks for the replies! Very helpful. :)
