I don't know. I mean, maybe I'm romanticizing the past just a little, but I remember a brief period of time during the 1980s, when Hollywood writing started to get just a little more wordy and nerdy. But, it didn't last long, and common vernacular took over with "f**k" being thee goto word of choice.
