All elected governments have bureaucrats to run day to day business. And I agree that the EU is too bureaucracy-laden. But a dictatorship? No. The EU was formed to put the brakes on totalitarianism. And blaming liberals for the machinations of illiberal leftist parties and unions is disingenuous. Conservatives like Viktor Orban and Jaros?aw Kaczy?ski are a greater threat to European democracy. Worry less about cucumber shapes and more about the repression of free judiciaries and the open press.
