I think I've seen this happen once or twice on imgflip lately.

True... I was sorta "flaming" this guy (Who'll be anonymous) And I thought he was a troll, but turns out he's just a jerk. We all sound like trolls when we're flaming, but we're just being jerks to them.

It is the opinion of some folks that the earth is flat. That whenever went to the moon. It was medical opinion that certain smells caused illness. It was the opinion of the Japanese high command, that attacking pearl Harbor would keep us out if the war long enough to insure victory in Asia. It is the opinion of many today that vaccines are ineffective or are placing nanobots into our systems.

Those sound more like theories or beliefs that have been disproved. To me an opinion is more like a judgement, not always based on fact or provable. But that is just my opinion.

Philosophically you are correct. The opinion is based on s judgement or belief. If I write an opinion in lawt, it can be overturned by basis of fact I might have missed. If I write an article for a science journal, I can cloning I'd bad in my opinion, but I better substantiate that based on ethics or morality of the prevailing culture I live in, or the unified standards of the research. All opinion until tested is judgement and that judgement may be faulty. Fun fun.

Lately, I have been prefacing a lot of my judgmental statements with "in my opinion" then when someone gets mad and tells me I am wrong, I look at them and say, It's my opinion, it can't be wrong. I love to see the colors and expressions that can be achieved on a human's face. :)

Those will carry a b12 complex and will be remotely controlled . I was talking about super sci Fi nanobots that actively work as an intelligent al. People actually believe that.

He's stating a fact which is universally acknowledged.

The idea that some views are right and some views are wrong is an axiom necessary for knowledge to exist.

But if one holds a certain opinion, whether it be based on fact or goes against fact, it is still their opinion, thus cannot be wrong.

e.g.: "In my opinion, the republican and democrat presidential candidates are doody heads." Now this may or may not be a fact, but you cannot say my opinion is wrong because it is what I believe.

Sorry, but that's wrong. You need to change your mind about that.

If someone holds an opinion contrary to fact, it's a wrong opinion, and they're not entitled to it. Nobody has the right to believe false things.

In my opinion, everyone has a right to their own beliefs, true or false. If my belief goes against everyone elses, it's still my belief and is not wrong to me. I must just be willing to accept possible consequences. Many people believe in intelligent design. Even if evolution has proven this wrong, it is an individual's right to believe it.

The things I miss

You should change your mind not because I say so, but because when you think about it, you'll see that what I'm saying is true. It's good to believe true things, just like it's bad to believe false things.

The same thing goes the other way too - if you could show me that what you're saying is true, it would be my responsibility to believe it.

Truth changes. Today's truth will be tomorrow's falsehood. 10 years ago, it was true that the human tongue was responsible for taste. Today that is false. The brain is responsible for taste. Absolute truth can obtained only when we have all the data, which we will never have.

So I am still not changing my mind.
