I realize they are very similar, but i used to operate a computer with unix on it. I could get around in it fairly well. I tried linux about 3 years later and i said ya f**k this, i went back to Windows :)
i started using it years ago 'cause i needed a free os to fix a crashed computer 'cause i was broke... it was ok... i stuck with it and switched to xubuntu, customized it as 'windowsy' as possible (the downside was not being able to play some of my favorite games) but once i started learning bash script to write my apps/implementations i was like... <<<
if you ever feel like giving it another go i suggest xubuntu, simplified pakage installing of ubuntu without the goofy gnome desktop (hate it - Xfce4 desktop is my JAM!) and the most of the features of pure debian...
