Most past civilizations last only about 200 years. It has been sais that there are 9 stages to civilization as follows:

Bondage to spiritual faith to great courage to liberty to abundance to selfishness to complacency to apathy to dependence to bondage. I think we can say that we are squarely in the apathy stage heading for dependence. Enjoy your freedom while you have it.

I believe it'll be different with the United States. You might not believe me, but this is what I think: God let empires rise and fall throughout history, and in the latter days, a new kingdom will come forth as a stone without hands that will eventually fill the earth (See Daniel 2:36-44). I believe this stone represents The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but the US was established by God to allow religious freedom so that the church can be established and grow to fill the earth before the Second Coming.

Mark 13:32 declares that no one but God knows when Jesus will come again. In the mean time this country continues to take away our religious freedoms.

Yes, but there have been signs that he will come again, and surely it is near, even at the doors (Doctrine & Covenants 110:16)
