I put 1200 into that kickstarter. I'd like to know it went somewhere other than an E3 preview.

Shenmue was an open world, story-based fighting game that came out on Dreamcast. The story came to an abrupt halt at the end of Shenmue 2, and we heard nothing about Shenmue 3 until last year. That's a 15 year gap for those who enjoyed the series. They had a kickstarter to raise money to begin development on Shenmue 3 and almost immediately reached their goal, then exceeded it 10 times over. I think the goal was $500.000 USD and it raised over $6.000.000

At the last E3 (a game expo where major companies unveil future consoles, big title games, etc.) They gave a full demo of Shenmue 3. Since then all we've seen are some screenshots that look like concept art to assure us that the game is still in the works. I personally donated kr1.200 DKK, which according to Google is $183,61 USD and I really hope that it's being put to good use.

TL;DR
It's a game series that we didn't hear from for 15 years, and we all donated to make it happen. Since the E3 press conference, we've heard very little.
